As you have may have read in my earlier post, I recently had a milestone birthday. I was totally stoked about turning 40. To be honest, part of the reason may have been a little selfish. My friend, Sheila, was hosting a birthday party to celebrate yours truly. This would be a day all about ME!
As the day (and the party) approached, I assured myself that I would not be upset or disappointed if there was a low turnout for the birthday bash. I knew that there were competing factors and other events that would prevent some invitees from attending. Yet, I was also aware that the confirmed guest list was getting larger as the day drew near. The skeptic in me kept wondering just how many people would actually show up.
Well, low and behold, the party was a huge success. Between 25 and 30 friends were on hand to celebrate with me. Some I had seen earlier in the week, some I hadn’t seen in over a year. My good friend, Ken, even flew in from Colorado to surprise me! Actually he flew to St. Louis and then made the 3 1/2 hour drive down to Springfield. Now that is what I call a true friend!
So this is a big thank-you to all of my friends who helped me ring in my 40th year! I will NEVER forget just how special you made me feel. I can’t wait for my chance to return the favor and make you all feel special. You guys (and girls) are the BEST friends a girl could ever hope for!
